Carroll Singers is an organization established to support a traditional choral music experience for adult and high school age singers in Carroll County and to support local charitable organizations serving Carroll County Citizens who are in need and who have limited operational resources. Carroll Singers was organized in 2005 by former members of the Carroll County Choral Society that dissolved in 2003 after the retirement of Director Herb Sell.
The Purpose of this organization is:
- To build interest in and support for the performance of choral music in Carroll County Maryland.
- To perform public concerts of quality choral literature.
- To support the growth of interest in arts activities by local citizens.
- To provide scholarship assistance to local high school seniors entering a college music program.
- To support local nonprofit organizations who provide services to citizens in need.
Fall concerts feature holiday music. Spring concerts follow different themes. Past themed concerts have included the music of Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mercer and Hoagy Carmichael, the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney, Popular Country Music, and Patriotic Music. The Spring 2019 concert will feature uplifting, inspiring music from many different genres. Past concert flyers
Carroll Singers continues the tradition established by its predecessor the Carroll County Choral Society. Performing popular music from many decades in our concerts touches the hearts of people from many walks of life. It continues to provide a very pleasing alternative choral music experience for our local citizens.
During the past several years, Carroll Singers has provided gifts to three local non-profit organizations serving low income citizens of Carroll County through Carroll County Food Sunday, Shepherds Staff and Access Carroll. We have also provided an annual gift to the Carroll County Arts Council which is not designated to be spent on any specific activity, allowing the Arts Council to use those funds to their best advantage.
Carroll Singers has appeared as guest performers numerous years as part of the finale of “Big Band Merry Christmas” concerts and has performed at local churches and the Eichelberger Theater in Hanover Pennsylvania to broaden the base of our audience and to provide access to interested people from other communities.
